Thank you to all of my fans who attended my first ever YouTube Live gig on Sunday 10th May at 8pm.
The gig was streamed from my house and filmed in the dining room.
I played seven tracks:
- Emily (from the EP “Half-Heard”)
- Black Dog (Unreleased)
- Afterglow (Unreleased)
- These Words Aren’t Meant for Me (From the album “These Words Aren’t Meant for Me”)
- Carry You Home (Unreleased)
- Chase the Dragon (Unreleased)
- Sister to a Brother (From the album “These Words Aren’t Meant for Me”)
There are subtitles on the video for those of you who want to read the lyrics. Here’s the link: https://studio.youtube.com/video/OgTfFgK9Sy8/
Below are a few snaps from the evening showing the setup used to create the gig and the stream. It involved a fair bit of kit. I played my Martin D35 (1972 vintage) throughout. I used a Boss RC-30 pedal to combine the vocal and guitar as well as for triggering instrumental backing tracks for three of the songs.
This all went to my Marshall Valvesate amp and was picked up with a Sennheiser shotgun mic in the room. That then went to a Focusrite interface and into the Apple Mac laptop.
For video I shot on a Canon C100 MkII with a 24-105 lens, I took a HDMI feed from the Ninja Blade, ran that into a Black magic UltraStudio Mini Recorder out to Thunderbolt.
The audio and video were combined in OBS for encoding and then sent to YouTube. I ran the stream on a hardline ethernet cable from my homes internet hub. It all worked very well.
