The wide and dancing Colorado river carved out the Grand Canyon over 7 million years. The rock sculptures here dwarf any buildings along the Vegas strip both in significance and worth. We took a helicopter tour of the canyon, which the only practical way to see any of it in a short time. The Canyon is 200 miles long!
The flight took in lake Mead and the Hoover Dam as well as the Bowl of Fire and other interesting landmarks. We ate lunch in the bottom of the canyon and walked around for a while, constantly impressed impressed by the sheer size of the place, its a mile deep on average!
If you come to this part of the world make sure you visit. I’d love to hike here – but that will be another trip!
