I snapped this picture through the dense coastal redwood tree coverage during a hike through Muir Woods, just north of San Francisco. We were alone on the Boot Jack trail heading high up through this ancient woodland to the Pacific Highway.
We climbed for hours up steep paths until we finally found a road (With some relief because we didn’t have a map) Turned out we were miles from where we left our car and the sun was setting (Plus there were warning signs for mountain lions and ticks!) and so we decided to hitch hike back to our car. Luckily we got picked up by 2 nice girls who drove us to our vehicle. Such an exhilarating day in the woods.
